Government Legislation

  • [Other] Proposed Amendment to the Enforcement Rule of the Motor Vehicle Management Act
    • Competent Ministry : Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
    • Advance Publication of Legislation : 2026-08-20
    • Opinion Submission Deadline : 2026-09-30

[Background]

Although motor vehicle manufacturers, etc., are required to provide diagnostic information necessary for motor vehicle inspections as a post-management measure for self-certified vehicles, this information is not being smoothly provided due to factors such as manufacturer business closures and ambiguities in the required information items.

To facilitate the seamless provision of data by motor vehicle manufacturers, etc., the regulation is being improved to require the submission of diagnostic information necessary for inspections at least 10 days prior to the start of sales for the relevant vehicle. Additionally, it specifically defines the information items required for diagnosing eco-friendly vehicles, such as high-voltage electrical systems and warning sound generators.

[Main Points]

Motor vehicle manufacturers, etc., must provide the data specified in each subparagraph of Attached Table 5-3 to the Korea Transportation Safety Authority within six months from the date of the initial sale of a self-certified motor vehicle.
