Reason for proposal and main contents


According to the current act, oil dealers shall display the selling prices of petroleum products through the method of installing price boards, and oil stations shall display the selling prices of petroleum products for diesel, common gasoline, premium gasoline, etc.

  Where, according to the domestic quality standard on petroleum products, common gasoline has at least 91 but less than 94 octane value and premium gasoline has at least 94 octane value; therefore, the octane value may differ significantly by oil station despite being the same kind of product.

  Accordingly, the aim is to guarantee consumers' right to know by displaying the octane value of each product in addition to selling prices on the price boards (Article 38-2.3 and Article 49-2.5 of the draft).
