(1) Reasons for Proposal

The Amendment newly inserts lead and cadmium specifications for seaweed sporophyll and amends maximum residue limits for agricultural chemicals used in Korea and abroad, thereby aiming to provide the people with safe food.

(2) Major Provisions

A. Newly insert lead and cadmium specifications for seaweed sporophyll [2. 3. 5) (2) ③]
1) There is a need to manage seaweed sporophyll to reduce exposure to heavy metals resulting from seaweed sporophyll consumption
2) Amend lead and cadmium limits for seaweed to include seaweed sporophyll
3) Strengthen safety management for heavy metals found in products containing seaweed sporophyll

B. Amend maximum residue limits for agricultural chemicals and agricultural products [(35) Methomyl, (68) Cyhalothrin, (116) Cartap, and (349) Novaluron in attached Table 4]
1) There is a need to reassess maximum residue limits in accordance with the current pre-harvest intervals
2) Amend maximum residue limits for four types of agricultural chemicals including methomyl
3) Provide the people with safe food by making sensible amendments to maximum residue limits for agricultural chemicals in agricultural products
