1. Reasons for Amendment
○ In accordance with the “Child Care Provider Training System Reform” of the “Measures to Upgrade Child Care Services” (February 2023), this Amendment enhances the on-the-job responsiveness of child care providers.
- It also reorganizes the education course into a participative learning format (debates and practical exercises, etc.) to strengthen hands-on skills.
2. Major Provisions
□ Standard education curriculum for child care provider training
○ Increase the “standard education curriculum for child care provider training” to 120 hours (100 hours of theory and practical exercises, 20 hours of practical work) by reinforcing practical exercises and practical work in the current child care provider training (100 hours in total).
- Reduce the current theoretical component and strengthen education on child safety, health, rights, prevention of child abuse, etc. (from 20 hours to 40 hours) in accordance with job analyses (NCS).
- Specify practical work, which is currently mentioned only in the Guidelines, in the Notice.
The standard education curriculum for child care provider training shall be amended in accordance with the provisions of Article 3 (1) of the Enforcement Rule of the Child Care Support Act and as described in the Notice below.
