1. Reasons for Amendment
The Amendment expands the scope of the Act on the Safety Control of Children’s Amusement Facilities to include science museums, arboretums and gardens, amusement parks, public sewage treatment plants, and other locations often used by children. It also increases the compensation limit for children’s amusement facility liability insurance, and otherwise addresses and improves upon a number of weaknesses that have emerged from the operation of the current system.
2. Major Provisions
A. Expand the scope of venues subject to the Act on the Safety Control of Children’s Amusement Facilities (attached Table 2)
○ Include science museums, arboretums and gardens, amusement parks, and public sewage treatment plants, which are often used by children, in the scope of locations subject to the Act on the Safety Control of Children’s Amusement Facilities
○ Reflect amendments to the Libraries Act, which classifies libraries according to their purpose of establishment, and change provisions that cite the Libraries Act
B. Increase the liability insurance compensation limit for incidents that occur at children’s amusement facilities (attached Table 7)

: Reflect the opinions of relevant institutions by deleting newly inserted provisions that specify a reporting deadline for incidents, and adding a location subject to the Act (public sewage treatment plants)
