1. Reasons for Amendment

This amendment aims to supplement current design standards in order to enhance the safety of flat slab structures and to establish design standards in order to improve the safety and quality of precast concrete buildings and promote the construction of off-site construction methods.

2. Major Provisions

A. Partially revise the concrete structure design standards for buildings (KDS 41 20 00)

 - Establish a new item “special considerations for flat slab structure design” within the two-way slab design standards to separately specify supplementary matters to improve design weaknesses.

B. Enact the precast concrete structure design standards for buildings (KDS 41 20 10)

 - Stipulate in detail design methods, etc., required for structural calculations based on the common design standards (KDS 14 20 00) for precast concrete and design methods for each manufacturing-assembly-completion stage for each precast concrete structural member.

 - Stipulate analysis methods for load transfer that occurs at joints when assembling structural members, design methods for joining and anchoring joints, and design methods for securing structural stability necessary for assembling members during construction.

 - Stipulate the seismic coefficient for each seismic structure system and the equivalence evaluation method to satisfy it, and among these, prescribe the seismic design details for special structural systems that require high ductility, and stipulate structural diaphragm design criteria.

C. Partially revise General Provisions (KDS 41 10 05) of the structural standards for buildings

 - Match/update the importance of buildings with the Building Structure Standard Rules, which is the delegated statute.
