The current Act requires each target facility to install amenities in ordre to enable the disabled, the elderly, pregnant women, etc., to use facilities and equipment in a safe and convenient manner, but the lounge for pregnant women is recommended only to certain facilities such as performance halls and theaters.
Breastfeeding is known to promote the healthy growth and development of infants and also to reduce the incidence of breast or ovarian cancer, but the facilities in which pregnant women with infants may rest and feed conveniently are insufficient in Korea; moreover, in a situation where the decline in birth rates is becoming a serious social issue, it is suggested that a lounge for pregnant women be installed in public facilities to create a more childcare-friendly environment in society.
Therefore, this Amendment requires the target facilites designated by Presidential Decree to install a lounge for pregnant women, etc., and prescribes matters neccessary for its sanitation and management by the Ordinance of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, thereby enabling pregnant women to use target facilities more conveniently (Article 18 newly inserted).

The owners of the facilities designated by the Presidential Decree shall install a lounge for pregnant women, etc. in accordance with the standards for installing amenities (Article 18).
