The current Act prescribes compulsory installation of water spray fire extinguishing equipment, etc., in any electrical room, generator room, transformer room, or other similar facility that is installed in a specific fire-fighting object with a floor area of not less than 300 square meters.
It is particularly important to extinguish fire in initial stages in such facilities as electrical rooms, generator rooms, and transformer rooms since there is a greater risk of fires caused by short circuits. However, the vast majority of interested persons of specific fire-fighting objects who are exempt from compulsory installation of sprinkler systems or water spray fire extinguishing equipment, etc., have only installed manual fire-fighting equipment.
Accordingly, the Amendment requires interested persons of specific fire-fighting objects to install automatically activated sprinklers or water spray fire extinguishing equipment, etc., for early fire suppression in any electrical room, generator room, transformer room, etc., regardless of the size of the room, thereby aiming to ensure an effective fire response and protect the lives and property of the public (Article 9, paragraph 2 and Article 11, paragraph 1, subparagraph 1, items B and C, etc.).
