Reasons for Proposal

Reasons for Proposal and Major Provisions

In order to protect the rights and interests of motor vehicle buyers, the current law mandates follow-up management of motor vehicles, such as requiring motor vehicle manufacturers to supply parts necessary for motor vehicle maintenance for a certain period, disclosing consumer price data of motor vehicle parts on the Internet website, etc.

However, unlike motor vehicles, in the case of motorcycles, follow-up management obligations, such as the obligation to supply parts necessary for maintenance for a certain period or to disclose the price of parts on the Internet website, etc. are not separately stipulated. And it has been pointed out that follow-up management should also be strengthened in the case of motorcycles as consumer damage continues to occur, such as excessive claims for repair of motorcycles, etc.

Accordingly, the regulations requiring follow-up management of motor vehicles, such as supply of parts and disclosure of price data, shall be applied to motorcycles, thereby eliminating inconvenience and damage to motorcycle buyers and reasonably improving the related system (Article 52).
