Reasons for Proposal
The current Act stipulates that the sale of foods detrimental to children's emotional health, such as foods that fuel betting or encourage sexual curiosity, or foods having such designs or taglines, or the manufacture, processing, import, preparing, keeping, transportation, or display of such foods for the purpose of sale may be prohibited.
However, recently, as children's favorite foods in containers and packaging similar or identical to those of household chemical products, etc., to which chemical substances that may be harmful to the human body are added are sold, a problem has been raised that safety accidents such that children may accidentally consume household chemical products after confusing packaging for household chemical products with packaging of their favorite foods.
Therefore, this amendment aims to prevent children from suffering the effects of accidental consumption of dangerous chemicals by prohibiting the sale of any foods in containers or packaging similar or identical to those of household chemical products, etc., which may be harmful to humans (Article 9 (1) 4 newly inserted).
